It's booming in the holiday rental market in Mallorca
The occupancy rate of holiday properties with a rental licence has been a good 90% since the end of July. Above all, many families prefer to stay in their own 4 walls.
The president of the Balearic Association of Holiday Home Rentals, Miguel Cifre, points out that the development is very good. He expects a positive booking trend until at least September and assumes an occupancy rate of about 60% in the first month of autumn. Average prices per day are between 300 and 600 euros. However, it is not uncommon for houses to be offered for up to 1,000 euros per day.The municipalities of Pollença, Alcúdia and Santanyí account for 70 percent of the total supply on the island. According to Cifre, the highest percentage of bookings comes from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, Germany and mainland Spain. Holiday homes and fincas are absolutely in vogue, as since the beginning of the pandemic many tourists feel more comfortable with an individual holiday than in a hotel, where it is sometimes impossible to avoid crowds. Buying a property with an existing rental licence is also becoming increasingly popular with investors who want a sustainable return and added value privately.
