New ferry connection from Mallorca to Toulon
From 21st April 2018, Corsica Sardinia Ferries will also be heading to Mallorca. Twice a week you can travel from Toulon to Alcúdia. You have the opportunity to explore Toulon with your own car, motorcycle or Camper without having to travel through Barcelona. From Germany, you can reach Mallorca via Toulon without intermediate overnight stay, as the departure to Mallorca is in the evening. The journey takes 11 hours, departure is at 8 pm and arrival at 7 am in Alcúdia. The journey from Mallorca to Toulon takes only 9 hours and takes place during the day. The new Mega Express Ferry “Pascal Lota” can carry 2,200 passengers and 700 vehicles. In addition to the Mega Epress, three more ships will be driving the route: Mega Express Two, Mega Andrea and Mega Express 4. The Mega Express Two was built in 2001. This can carry up to 1,756 passengers and 550 vehicles.
Puerto Alcúdia is just minutes from the old town. The harbor offers one of the most beautiful promenades in Mallorca with many restaurants, bars and shops. Next to the marina “Alcudiamar” is the extensive sandy beach. The beautiful Playa de Muro beach is just a few minutes from Port Alcúdia.
Did you know that the market in Alcúdia is one of the largest in Mallorca? At the Mallorcan weekly markets, you can buy clothing, household goods and handicrafts in addition to food. The market days are Tuesday and Sunday from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm. Since Alcúdia is not as touristy as other coastal cities of the island, the market is primarily used for the supply of the population and not as a tourist attraction as in other places. In Port Alcúdia is also a small market, from 9 am to 2 pm you have the opportunity to buy fresh food.
The market in Alcúdia can be easily reached by bus from Port Alcúdia. From the harbor or the beach, you can reach the market on foot. From Palma, you can drive in about 40 minutes directly on the highway MA-13 towards Alcúdia.
