The first league club gives away jerseys to Mayor Hila and Balearic President Armengol. Fans want to keep Moreno as coach. Not even 24 hours after the triumph of - a 3-0 win over Deportivo La Coruña in the play-off final after a 2-0 defeat in the first leg - Real Mallorca celebrated their return to the Primera División downtown in Palma on Monday evening (24 June). First stop: the town hall square and a visit to the newly elected mayor José Hila. Afterwards they went to the Consolat de Mar to celebrate with Prime Minister Francina Armengol. The politicians exchanged gifts with Andy Kohlberg, president of the association: Shirts with the number “1” and her name for mayor Hila and prime minister Armengol, picture and badge for the club boss.
Then they went up the Paseo Borne to the fountain in front of the Bosch Bar and the C&A store. Here, at the so-called Plaza de las Tortugas (Turtle Square), which is actually called Plaça de Joan Carles I, football successes are celebrated in Mallorca. Already in the night before some fans of Real Mallorca had allowed themself a bath in the with turtle figures decorated fountain.
In chants, the fans of Real Mallorca let the managers of the club know that they don’t want to stay without their coach, the Valencian Vicente Moreno. In principle, he has a contract that expires in a year. At the moment, however, nobody doubts that the contract will be extended for the new challenge in the first league. Moreno himself, typical for him, was serious and reserved, praising his players and fans and pointing out that it was not his decision to continue the team as coach.
