New Beach Club “Assaona” in Portixol
The new Beach Restaurant, successor to the former Nassau Beach, became Assaona Beach Club & Restaurant last Friday, 18.05.2018. The new operator of the restaurant is the Mallorcan company Marport Sunbeach. Forty people are part of the new team, which is available to guests every day of the year from 9:00 am to 1:00 am, offering great breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Assaona has been completely refurbished and is located in the district of Portixol just a few minutes from Palma’s historic center and the cathedral. A Catalan designer has refurbished the entire restaurant, not just with new furniture, but also with a new kitchen, new windows and much more.
The colors of the interior were adapted to the beach, even the waiters wear sand-colored uniforms. The well-known Mallorca chef Gerhard Schwaiger has delivered the kitchen concept as a consultant, but he continues to cook only in his own restaurant near Palma’s Son Moix Stadium in Schwaigers Xino’s. The main courses are about 20 to 30 euros, but there are also salads, Currywurst, snacks and much more on the varied card.
The selected name “Assaona” comes from the Mallorcan verb assaonar, which means “season, marinate” in English.
Portixol is located near the capital Palma. The small town has become one of the most popular addresses from all over Palma. In addition to the new Assaona Beach Club, there are several great bars and restaurants as well as cycling and jogging trails in the harbor.
