Record turnover in the tourism industry on the Balearic Islands
The tourism industry and the hoteliers on the Balearic Islands had 2015 the best summer of their history. It is not only the entire tourism on the Balearic Islands grown by 10 percent, also the hotels were almost up to 90 percent fully booked, which corresponds to a growth rate of over three percent. Several major hotel chains such as Iberostar or RIU, reported sales growth of up to 15 percent.

According to a study by the National Statistical Institute, are five of the ten most popular tourist destinations of Spain on Mallorca located: Alcudia, Son Servera, Llucmajor, Santa Margalida and Muro. The reason for the great demand for Mallorca properties, vacation rentals and hotel accommodations is especially because the British are feeling simply safe with their families on Mallorca and the other Balearic Islands. Many people who spent their vacation in Egypt and Tunisia the last years, are afraid now about the critical situation there. Also Greece with their very difficult economic situation is not an option anymore as destination for many Brits.
Upgrade for hotels on Mallorca
Many hoteliers decided in the recent years to renovate their hotels and resorts, to make Mallorca more appealing for tourists from all over the world and also to get additional sales growth for their company. According to the Hotel Association of the Balearic Islands a price increase for hotel rooms of up to five percent will be expected for next year. The modernization of some of the hotel resorts, may attain even a price increase of up to 15 percent for the hoteliers next year. This result has emerged from the negotiations of hoteliers on the Balearics Islands with tour operators. Some hotels, which had specialized primarily in the luxury sector and on a high quality upgrading, could realize this year already up to 20 percent price increase. The tour operators have already undertaken to pay 75 percent in advance for the hotel rooms to back up their room allotments.
Holidays on Mallorca
More than a million British tourists came to Mallorca only this summer, and the forecasts for September and October, are also very promising, according to the Hotel Association of the Balearic Islands. Next year will expected an absolute record for the hoteliers, regarding of the price appreciation through the tour operators. It will be also a very successful year for real estate agents on Mallorca who are specialized in long term rentals as the trend to live on the island is increasing.
