Santa Ponsa – a Hotspot for yacht and golf lovers
At first sight Santa Ponsa is a typical seaside resort for families but if you take a closer look at this area you will discover historic buildings, some of the most luxurious properties in Mallorca, a first class marina, beautiful beaches and 3 golf courses. Only 20 kilometres from the capital Palma, the airport is also close by. Santa Ponsa, in the southwest of Mallorca, offers 2 sandy beaches. The 560 m long Playa de Santa Ponsa and the small bay “Caló d’en Pallisser” which is very popular with the locals. Protected by lifeguards and with a wide range of water sports, Playa de Santa Ponsa is ideal for families. Moreover, the water in the whole bay is shallow and with a sandy bottom. For the little ones there is a playground on the beach. The place offers an international atmosphere and consists of a mixture of English, German, Spanish, Italian and Asian bars and restaurants. For the daily needs you will find all the important shops directly on the main street. For shopping there is a wide selection of boutiques and souvenir shops as well as the weekly market on Saturday. The nearby “Polígono Son Bugadelles” (industrial area) is a large commercial area with a well-known gym and a wide range of retail businesses. Customers from all over the island come here to visit furniture stores, building and yacht suppliers and interior decorators such as Knox Design, Terraza Balear or Kare.
For sailors, the Club Nautico de Santa Ponsa offers about 500 moorings in a natural bay and is very popular. In a few minutes by car you can reach Port Adriano, one of the few ports for super yachts on Mallorca. If you are looking for a more luxurious lifestyle, the designer shops and restaurants along the promenade are sure to appeal to you. None other than Philippe Starck designed and built the harbour a few years ago. The most popular activities in Santa Ponsa are swimming on the beach and in between a visit to the nearby bars and restaurants. Due to its proximity to the Tramuntana mountains, Santa Ponsa is also very popular with hikers and cyclists. Hobby archaeologists will find a lot of fun in the Sa Morisca Natural Park. Thanks to its good access to the motorway, Santa Ponsa is also an ideal starting point for island-wide excursions, including a boat trip to the Dragonera Island Nature Reserve near Andratx. Santa Ponsa has a well-mixed, international ambience and is particularly popular with English and German speaking property owners. The real estate market in Santa Ponsa is very diverse and offers everything from small to large purses. Some areas, such as Nova Santa Ponsa, primarily offer high-priced, exclusive villas and apartment complexes, while in the village itself or in the “English Quarter” there are still flats at affordable prices. Hardly any detached villa in good condition is under € 1 million. For first class locations or first sea line one pays up to 11 Mio €. Prices vary of course also due to the very high building standard of the properties, beautifully landscaped gardens with pools and location, location, location.
