Shop Local – Christmas shopping in Palma
The year 2020 was one of the hardest years for the Balearic Islands due to the Covid-19 crisis and many companies and small businesses have already had to close down, as they were mainly dependent on tourism, which has largely come to a standstill. This has had catastrophic effects and many families and people have been in need and some of them could no longer afford the basic supply of food and clothing. Many have therefore turned to charities such as Mallorca Sense Farm, Asosiacion Tardor, Hope Mallorca or SI Mallorca.
It is more important than ever to support the local businesses and especially the small retail shops. Instead of ordering from Zalando or Amazon, this year you should try to buy your Christmas gifts locally or order online from outside the island from companies here on the island. There are many many companies on Mallorca that sell homemade products or handicrafts, which are ideal as gifts under the Christmas tree. Anyone can contribute with even a small amount of money to support the local economy, which in 2020 has suffered more than ever before. Help us - Mallorca says THANK YOU!
