Travel to Mallorca will be possible again from the end of June?
Currently the most important question of our clients and second home owners? “When can we go back to the island?” Planning and forecasting are difficult at this time and rules and regulations change almost daily or weekly. The issue of the opening of the airport of Mallorca has been hotly debated in the last few days. After the central government in Madrid decided on 15.05 on a 14-day quarantine regulation for travellers to Mallorca, shortly afterwards the Minister of Transport José Luis Abalos announced that the government “guaranteed” that from the end of June 2020 the freedom of movement of EU citizens within the Schengen area would be restored and that therefore the airport would be reopened for international flights at the end of June. The Balearic Prime Minister Francina Armengol made a statement that the first pilot flights will be available from mid-June and that the airport operating company AENA is working hard to implement the regulations to prevent corona infections. Also numerous hotels on Mallorca, which have already written off the holiday season for the most part, are now working with united forces to be able to welcome guests again from July - all of course in compliance with the new security measures.
