What’s new in Mallorca?
Mallorca is an island of constant changes. With all the new boutique hotels, quality restaurants, lively bars and chic design shops, you can say for sure that Palma and all of Mallorca are developing splendidly. Mallorcan traditions - from food to architecture - are being rediscovered in new and exciting ways, while cool new concepts such as clothing and design offer customers more interesting possibilities. The focus is on quality, not quantity, and popular local businesses are expanding their presence to offer their long-standing customers more choice and better service. Demand for more regional products, organic ingredients and organic food has increased significantly. There are also more and more luxury providers in the yachts, nightclubs and first-class hotels sector.
After an extensive renovation, the Port Calanova in Sant Augustin presents itself in a completely new look. The marina now has a nice restaurant, the Muelle 327 Gastrodock, with a large terrace, a Sky Bar & Lounge with panoramic views and guest rooms directly at the harbour. The Calanova Sport Residence has a new pool, conference rooms and a gym. Of course the whole marina including shipyard and sailing school was completely renovated. There is a wide range of water sports on offer and the sailing school is especially recommended for children during the summer months.
The new Bikini Island & Mountain Hotel in Port de Soller brings Californian flair to the island. The new, totally hip and very trendy hotel offers a fantastic view of the port of Soller and is characterised by a very fresh and funky atmosphere. Not to forget the Santaverde Spa and the bikini pool bar. The Hotelrestaurant Neni, also very famous from Berlin, offers a modern Israeli & Lebanese cuisine with a wonderful view from the terrace on Port de Soller.
The recently opened 5* star Hotel Carrossa Hotel Spa Villas in Arta, offers one of the largest wellness areas on the island and is located in a historic estate in the northeast. The Finca Hotel, run by Austrians, attaches great importance to a healthy lifestyle and offers not only an excellent spa, but also a high-quality gourmet offer and individual golf packages.
The beachhouse style restaurant that opened some time ago in Portals, next to the Moods Beach Club, is located directly by the sea. UM Beach House La Calita is the first of its kind from the Umami Group to combine regular events with a relaxed boho flair and a menu of grilled food, creative cocktails and dishes. A perfect restaurant with children, as there is a slide right next to the restaurant and two beach entrances directly at the restaurant.
Another highlight we find in the Santa Catalina quarter. On the popular restaurant street “Calle Fabrica” there is a new Italian - the Cambuso Gusto Italiano. The restaurant already exists on the Caribbean island Antigua and is additionally specialized in catering for yachts.
Not quite new anymore but one of the newest hotels in Majorca’s island capital is the 5* Hotel Es Princep. Unique luxury meets Mallorcan charm - this is the new star in Palma’s Calatrava district. Just a few minutes from the Arab baths, La Seu Cathedral or the city centre, the hotel offers a total of 70 rooms with sea views. On the wonderful roof terrace with pool and bar you can spend fantastic hours with a breathtaking view.
